Sormac invests in its own laser cutting machine

A brand-new press brake was installed in mid-2022, increasing the capacity of our machinery. Now, during the last quarter, Sormac has expanded with a completely new department for the rough machining of stainless steel sheeting. The machinery has been supplemented by a laser cutting machine for stainless steel, two deburring machines and an electric fork-lift truck.

Entire production process in-house

A modern department has been developed within a new production hall for the machining of unfinished stainless steel sheeting. Stainless steel sheeting is cut to 15 millimetres with a laser cutting machine with a Bystronic automatic sheet loading and unloading system. These are then deburred and are ready for further machining. “We are extremely happy with the installation of this new equipment. Not only does this help us to take the production process to a higher level, it also reduces our dependency on suppliers and helps to reduce delivery times.

All of this contributes to our goal to be a reliable supplier for our customers,” says Ruud Schreurs, technical director.

Sustainable equipment and layout
Sormac endeavours to make every investment from a sustainability perspective. For example, the new production hall has been connected to all utilities (electricity and heat pump) of the adjacent energy-neutral hall. The new fork-lift truck is also powered by electricity generated by our own solar panels.
