Sormac presents new machines at Fruit Logistica

Dutch machine manufacturer Sormac, market leader in Fresh convenience, hasn’t been idle. At the Fruit Logistica (booth D07, hall 3.1) in Berlin, the company from Venlo will be presenting three entirely revamped machines. This will boost the potato, carrot, and pepper markets.

Pepper corer PO
The renewed pepper corer is a breakthrough in pepper processing. The machine de-stems, cores, and cuts peppers both horizontally and vertically (if desired). This makes it the only machine that cuts a whole pepper into cubes. The wedge cutting options have also increased: besides cutting into 2, 4, 6, 8, and 12 wedges, it is now possible to cut the peppers into 16, 20, or even 24 pieces. This creates the beautiful slender bell pepper strips that are gaining popularity as a healthy snack.

The core system has also been reviewed. The new system is equipped with sensors, due to which each pepper is measured separately. The length of the pepper determines how far the drill mechanism cuts into the pepper. This leaves the outside of small peppers undamaged whilst the seeds of large peppers are still fully removed. This improvement, in combination with the vacuum extraction of the seed lists, produces an exceptionally clean end product.

The potato halving and quartering machine has undergone numerous updates. It has a continuous processing system, which means less maintenance ánd a higher capacity. The machine is also equipped with an innovative aiming system. This ensures that the potatoes are perfectly aligned before they are sliced, resulting in a smoother end product. The machine can be equipped with cutting dies that chop potatoes into 2, 4, or 8 pieces. The dies are removable and easily exchangeable. The final new feature is a folding transport roller. Small parts that fall between the rollers are now discharged with each rotation of the aligning rollers.

Revolver peeler for baby carrots CRR
The updated revolver peeler is Sormac’s answer to a request for better cleaning possibilities of the machine. The machine’s drum is equipped with a folding roller, which makes it easy to clean the inside of the drum, especially the conveyor screw. A patent has been filed for this unique system. The rapid assembly and disassembly of the rollers, of course, remains. The Sormac revolver peeler was already known for the extremely small distance between its rollers (< 4 mm), which makes the machine very suitable for peeling baby carrots.
